Joel is art director/visual designer with 9 years of experience in the digital design field.
He has directed design teams and worked on a wide range of clients from auto, lifestyle, fashion, entertainment to technology industries.
His skills range from art and creative direction, user experience interaction and visual design.
Living in New York for 2 years freelancing as an art director and creative consultant and more recently focusing towards consulting for startups.Prior to that he ran his own digital agency in Sydney Australia for 4 years and earlier in his career worked as a designer at local advertising agencies also within Australia.
Upon arrival to NYC Joel worked for major advertising and digital agencies including, LBI, Wieden+Kennedy, AKQA, RGA, Laird + Partners, Sapient Nitro, MRMWorldwide, Tribal DDB, Sony Music, Fluid and The Martin Agency.
He has been involved in creating pitches, campaigns, products, and brands for clients globally such as Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, The Olympics, Footlocker, Smirnoff, Citibank, Microsoft, Telstra (Major Australian Telco), Motorola, Lancome, Reebok, and Sony Music.
As well as working with global brands and clients, Joel has always worked on small side projects, helping with brand development for small businesses and visual design for early stage tech startups. Being involved with these projects that he feels passionately about is what motivates and inspires him.
Recently he has been helping startups such as Freelancer.com and Y-Combinator groups such as Omnisio, Rap Genius and Imporia as Visual Designer.
Joel is passionate about design, music and technology and draws inspiration from many facets of popular culture. His fascination with the cultural zeitgeist, combined with his love of traveling, has exposed him to many new ideas and experiences.
These have been the driving forces in shaping his aesthetic as an innovative and versatile creative.

Gwarsh has been my Studio name I have worked under for the last 6 years. Its started as a freelance identity giving me the flexiblity to work directly with brands. Gwarsh over the last couple of years has expanded into a full studio working through both agencies and large local brands such as Mardi Gras, Olympic committee, Sony, Mt Buller and Smirnoff Vodka
I am contracted to design and consult creative on interface design for their clients such as Bluescope steel, Xlerplate, UNSW, Olympic Association, Salvage sale and Asset Nation.
